Hi, I’m Mel. Thanks for being here.
Her WildLife is the current expression of a path I’ve been walking for decades, part barefoot, part boots-on-the-ground. It weaves together my lifelong work in animal behaviour, equine connection, and wildlife care, held by a deeper remembering of natural rhythm and right relationship.
I’ve spent nearly 30 years working across species and sectors, from horses and farm animals, to sea lions, polar bears, wombats, koalas, birds of prey and more. My background spans zookeeping, behavioural consulting, equine performance, and equine-assisted programs for women and community groups. Across all of it, I’ve remained fascinated by how animals communicate, collaborate, and teach us…if we’re willing to listen.
I’ve trained macaws to fly, helped devils walk onto scales, coached women through bridleless rides, and built training plans for zoos and sanctuaries. Whether working in wildlife institutions or walking alongside a herd of horses, I return to the same principles: relationship, respect, rhythm, and presence.
My work is no longer about choosing between the professional and the personal, it’s about embracing the full picture. The science and the soul, the structure and the story, the instinct and the evidence.
Her WildLife is where this integration lives now: a space for women’s wellness, equine wisdom, and the quiet teachings of the natural world. WildStride continues in the background as my consulting arm for equine and wildlife organisations, available when needed.
You’ll find me most at home between these two worlds, walking the line where intuition meets experience, and where animals continue to shape what I know about being human.
Thanks for stopping by. This space is still unfurling, but the work has long been alive. If something here speaks to you, feel free to reach out.
Warmly,
Mel Spittall

I grew up in the thick of the Zoo world, my dad a Curator of a Wildlife Park + my mum handrearing various sick, injured or orphaned critters. However, despite being surround by all the beautiful wildlife, I was that little girl that loved horses…’
